Getting the word out about your product/service can be a frustrating process. Spending a lot of money on advertising campaigns that doesn’t elicit a response can be very disheartening to the beginning internet marketer.
That is why one should always check four major points when building any advertising campaign.
1 – Starting with your ad copy you should rework it until all the points you are trying to make are clearly explained. Get others to review it for possible problems you may not see. The ad is what represents you and so must be very persuasive.
If you are not sure you could write effectively enough then hire a copywriter to create it for you. Of all the elements of your campaign this one would be the one most likely to require investing in to get right.

3 – The timing of your ad is also very important. Setting it up to run on the weekend has been shown to gain fewer responses because so many people are in recreation mode then and less likely to buy. The only real exception to this rule is in the retail sector at mortar and brick stores where weekend sales flourish.
Summertime is also a slower period for advertising as so many people have vacations or family concerns to fill their time. However, if a local or national event comes up that relates to your product, jump on it as fast as you can.
4 – Finally you have to remember to keep running your ads frequently. Repetition is the way to having your name or product remembered. Studies have shown that people don’t always even notice and respond to any given advertisement until they have seen it between seven and twelve times.
Just like the major product companies like automobiles, carbonated drinks and fast food restaurants you have to keep your name in front of the people. It doesn’t matter that you are a world famous product, if your name and advertising doesn’t keep reminding people to purchase then sales will fall!

Advertising is to know people. The better you understand the workings of the human mind, the wants, needs, and drives of individuals the better you will be able to persuade them. Advertising is about persuasion. It is about getting your brand recognized. So how do we go about doing all these things?
The best thing someone can do to improve the ROI on advertising is to become aware of the core principles behind people’s behavior. Essentially people are here on this earth to reproduce. Every activity in their live no matter how trivial is calculated to provide resources for themselves and their future offspring. Off course most of this process is not at a conscious level. We go to school and work because we feel it is the right thing to do. We have to survive. Having an understanding of human evolution and a paradigm through an anthropological context would be helpful in the advertising field.
What does your product or service do for people. How does it help them in their procreative process. Does it make them look younger, live longer, or more efficient. Your job is to get people to associate your product or service with these aspects. This can be done through a purely intellectual level or a needs based level such as how much of the advertising was done at the early part of the 20th century.
You could focus on the irrational or emotional side of the mind. This appears to be the most effective approach at the moment. Humans are fundamentally irrational. Rationality is like a boat sitting on a vast sea of psychosis. Many people are only a short step away from insanity. Most people have decent control of their boat but you want to get the waves moving so their boat will flow in the direction you want it to go to.
One tool to get people emotional about your product is to use music. Most commercials on television include some form of music through the entire ad or at some section of it. The tune should be catchy and should appeal to the widest possible base audience. You may want to focus on the bottom of the barrel since in society the lowest common denominator has the most people in it.
Commercials are primarily focused toward stupid people. This is not to say that all stupid people are unsuccessful. There are very wealthy people who are willing to part with their money if an advertiser can fill some need missing in their life. Appeal to people’s base wants because whether ethical or not this is what lights a fire under their pants.
If you are focused primarily on print or web publishing you will want to use words that elicit interest and action. Each word should keep them focused on what you have to say. One superfluous word or boring phrase can cause the advertiser to lose many potential customers. Study copyrighting, and learn from the best. Ask yourself what ads got you interested in a product. What did they say, how did they make you feel?
Advertising does not have to be rocket science. If you can persuade people you have already won the battle. If you can succeed in getting them to purchase your services then you have met your goal.

If you own a business, you know the importance of advertising, marketing and promotions. Without doing some type of all three your business will surely never get off the ground unless through some luck and a lot of word of mouth hype.
This is especially true if your business involves selling products. When it comes to selling products, not only do you need to advertise what it is you are selling, but who is selling it. In print advertising, costs can soar with the more space you eat up. If you go by way of TV or radio, the longer your ad airs, the more expensive it will be. So lets touch on how to maximize your advertisement, by focusing in on key components.
Lets say for instance, you sell widgets. Write down at least 10 positive points about why you are the best widget dealer in the area, country etc. Do you have the largest supply? Maybe the most options in colors? Maybe you are the only certified reseller of widgets. Whatever your positive points are, you need to write them down.
Now that you have your list, come up with the headline that can incorporate the best positive point and the name of your business. For example, “The largest selection of Widgets in the country, only at Joe`s Widgets”. You will obviously modify it for your needs.
Now that you have grabbed your readers or listeners attention, you want to use the remaining advertising space to focus in on the types of widgets that you sell, what you have to offer, maybe some pricing on featured widgets and so on. Don`t forget to add in a disclaimer, such as “while supplies last” or whatever pertains to what you are selling. The last thing you want to do is seem like you are misleading or pulling a “bait & switch” on customers as they walk through your door or call you on the phone.
Never, never, never forget to put into the advertisement a means by which someone reading or listening can contact your company or purchase your products. If you are an online business, use email, web address, blog site, or whatever it is you use to sell your products. If you are a retail store, don`t forget a phone number, address and hours of operation. Too many times I have seen advertisements that forget this basic information and then the advertisement flops because customers can not get a hold of anyone. Do not forget your contact information.
Try to make the body of your advertisement more appealing. If it is within your budget try using some color, maybe add some photos of your widgets and so on. You not only want to make your advertisement stand out above the rest of your competition, but you also want to look more professional than the others. A cheesy ad, well, makes you look cheesy.
Finally, know where you are going to advertise. If you sell carpeting, would you run an advertisement in a video game magazine? No of course not, that is ludicrous. Find out what publication or section of the newspaper is right for your products. If you are an online business, take a wild guess as to where you need to advertise. I`ll let you chew on that one for a second….OK enough time. Online of course. It does your advertising campaign no good, regardless of how well the advertisement is written, if it is in the wrong place.
